An example of first place is the border between The United States of America and Mexico. It is a physical, material space. It is a large fence, whole the way from the East Coast to the West Coast. Whe people see it, they immediately recognise it as the border between the two countries. In most cases, borders are imaginative lines, but in the case of The USA and Mexico, the border between them is material and empirically observable. This is a clear example of first space.
