After the war he remained in France to study medicine and psychiatry. Before leaving France he had allready published several analysis of effects of racism and colonization. This subject of research could be explained by looking at his perception of French society. Coming from a French colony, Fanon saw himself as a French citizen. Upon arriving in France he had to deal with his position as a black individual in a whitened society. This encounter quickly shaped his psychological heories about culture.
