Max weber defines three kinds of social relationships. One of them is the communal relationship. People inside this relationship have subjective feelings towards each other, which could be affectual or traditional. These feelings make people think that they belong together. Most of the time these relationship can be found in small groups or traditional societies, but it's an element within most groups (Campbell, 1981). Good examples are family relationships, like between parents and children, national communities, like all Dutch citizens and traditional communities, like the Amish.

The other two social relationships are the Associative relationship and the Conflictual (power) relationship.
