Value rationality

Definition
Value rationality is defined as a handling with a certain way of value connected with it. An action is handled with a certain value in mind which defines the action. There is reasoning involved about relations between norms and values or between these two and an exsisting situation (Hoogerwerf, 2008).
But when this action is perceived by someone other then the acting person it can be interpreted as irrational, because of the lack of knowledge about the persons motives and rational thinking.
Value rationality is one of the ideal types created by Max Weber.
