Talk:Jacques Derrida
From Geography
Overall rating: 8/10.
1. Relevance: 10/10. The page about Jacques Derrida is very relevant for this course (his name came along on some occasions, to illustrate his importance as well). He is one of the most famous post-structuralists.
2. Well-written: 8/10. The page is very well written: the spelling and the english used are correct. And the article itself is easy to read because of the use of examples. The only minus is the fact that there are some typographical errors ("catgories" and "carreer" for instance).
3. well-researched: 8/10. The page is also very well-researched. The use of APA-citations are correct in-text and also in the list of references which seemed to be missing on some other pages. This makes the page verifiable which adds to the rating of the page.
4. Broad in its coverage: 7/10. The page is broad in its coverage, but some aspects could have been written in more depth. The bit about the deconstruction theory is short when you compare it to the description of his life (career, education, etc.). However, it does address the main aspects of the topic and it doesn't go into unnecessary detail.
5. Neutral: 8/10. The page seems to be factually accurate and there are no glorifying or talking-down words spoken about Jacques Derrida or his work. The page therefore seems to be neutral.
6. Stable: 6/10. The page is edited by lots of people. So the page is created bit by bit which possibly could affect the whole of the page: when people start editing the page without fully reading/understanding the page it may become factually inaccurate and also things could be said twice or even more.
7. Well-structured: 10/10 The page is very well structured. There is a lead, which talks about Jacques Derrida in general. Then a short biography about his life (which is important to understand his work ofcourse) and then his work itself and an example of an application of his work. The text is also very well structured by headings and table of contents.
8. Illustrated: 8/10. The page is illustrated: a photograph of Jacques Derrida is placed at the top of the page. This is good and makes the article maybe more personal and better to read as well. Knowing the face behind the text is always a positive thing.
9. Length: 8/10. The length of the page is good. As stated earlier: the part about his theory could have been a little longer, but the rest of the text is good. It doesn't go into unnecessary detail.
