Gloria E. Anzaldúa
About Anzaldúa
Anzaldúa was born on september 26 1942 and died in May of 2004. She was at first a teacher for a special education school. She used to speak fluently English and Spanish and wrote a lot about "borderlands" identity. A lot of her writings are for the most part in English, but you can read a lot of spanish phrases and words inbetween. One of her biggest interests was race and race-differences. She personally felt that she was inbetween races and wanted to make clear in her work that you may not just have one race. This was at the time a very radical approach to culture.
Because of her interests and experiences she put a lot of effort into a world of less hate, by 'messing identities'. This would, in her view, change the 'binary vision' of the world. By not classifying people as different from you, because you cannot classify people at all, there would be a lot less hate in the world.
