Domains of relevance

"Domains of relevance" is a term first adressed by Alfred Schütz. He used it to bring structure to his everyday lifeworld, as it is in a sense the continuation of the theory around typification(Campbell, 1981). Schütz made this distinction according to his personal interest.

primary domain

The primary domain consist of the immediate objects and events that can be perceived. According to Schütz this is the only domain of wich detailed knowledge is required, as such it may even be changed. This can be done through action which is based on the expecting of the outcome from the specific action. This is defined as the in-order-to motive by Schütz (Campbell, 1981).
