The practice turn
From Geography
The term practice turn is used to define the emergence of practice in social sciences. Practice theories seek to integrate objectivist theories of society (such as structuralism, functionalism, or Marxism) with theories that view social life as the contingent outcome of decisions, actions, and interpretations of social actors.
Practice theory is used to explain people's behavior by means of putting the practice as first object of research. Meaning is formed by doing and not an independent state of mind.
