In 'The dictionary of human geography' described as: "A major field of geography that is centrally concerned with the ways in which place, space and environment are both the condition and in part the consequence of human activities." Before, the field of geography mainly consisted of the natural and physical sciences. This was rather focussed on 'making sense of nature' then focussing on human activities. Later, a lot of different field in geography emerged, such as political geography, economic geography and cultural geography (Gregory, Johnston, Pratt, Watts, Whatmore, 2009, p. 350).
