| - | + | In their book A Thousand Plateaux (orig. Capitalisme et Schizophrénie 2. Mille Plateaux) [[Gilles Deleuzes]] and [[Felix Guattari]] introduce two types of space: the smooth and the striated space. Following [[Doel]]´s description Smooth space is based on deconstruction of its distinctive other: deconstruction o pointillist, binary striated space. Therefore in Smooth Space there are no longer points as “ends of [[trajectories]] and lines” with some sort of “[[control]]”-function (Doel, 2000, p. 130). In Smooth Space variety and manifold prevail and “space” (as a verb!) so that space becomes “fractal and chaosmotic”. In this space there is neither clear “organization”, nor “[[structure]]”, “transcendence”, “principles” or “unity” (also called “oneness” or “constancy”) (Doel, 2000, pp. 130-131). It is a space of becoming, where those dimensions of being are left behind and instead “manifold”, “mutation”, “decentredness”, “[[contingency]]” and “consistency” as sort of outcome of deconstruction of the image of “[[Being]]” (Doel, 2000, p. 131). Smooth space
